On April 28th a new version of the popular Linux Distro Ubuntu was released. i have tried out the Desktop version and found works very well.
some updates from Ubuntu 9.10
- WAY faster boot time. about 15 seconds
- New boot screen
- Two new themes
- New default background
- GIMP dosent come pre-installed :( but can be easily installed by running the following command in terminal.
sudp apt-get install gimp
theres probably many more things under the hood, but this is what i have found my self so far.
some other things you might like to install
Gparted - Play with your partitions :D
sudo apt-get install gparted

sudo atp-get install yakuake

I have an extremely old PC that runs Xubuntu at the moment but I find it rather inconvenient to use. Will Luci Lynx rum on 128RAM and Integrated graphics card and a nameless (crappy chinese) CPU?
it probably will. if your worried that it wont, you could try the netbook version, which is less resource intense.
